As filmmakers and storytellers, our core mission at Ashley Maria Productions has always been to build deep, lasting connections and inspire our audiences.
But storytelling isn’t just about what happens on the screen or on a film set—it’s about ensuring that everyone can access and share in those stories.
That is why we have officially embarked on a major initiative to completely overhaul our website to meet WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards, ensuring a seamless experience for screen reader users and visitors with disabilities.
Why Digital Accessibility Matters
For many individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or navigate the web using assistive technology, an unoptimized website can feel like a brick wall. Missing image descriptions, disorganized heading hierarchies, and unlabeled buttons make it incredibly difficult to navigate webpages.
True inclusivity means removing those digital barriers. Just as a physical movie theater needs ramps and captions, a digital space needs proper code structure. Web accessibility isn’t a checkbox or a legal chore for us—it is a direct extension of our commitment to community, equity, and impactful media.
Two People, One Page at a Time
Rebuilding a website under the hood takes real time and care. Since it is just the two of us behind the scenes managing this entire effort, we are diving in headfirst and tackling it meticulously—one single page at a time! We are reviewing every piece of code, refining structural HTML heading tags, and writing in clear, plain, and descriptive language — including the alt text for every single image.
While a full-site overhaul is a big undertaking for a small team, we are incredibly energized by the challenge and fiercely determined to get it right.
We are proud to share that our focused efforts have already successfully updated the Home page and several interior pages including the Director page, What We Do page, our 5 most recent blog pages)
Our Ongoing Promise
This is just the beginning. We are fully determined to audit and optimize every single page across our entire website. It takes time, but ensuring that our films, magazine articles, and resources are accessible to absolutely everyone is worth every ounce of effort.
