"The Jerk," starring Steve Martin was the first DVD Ashley Maria ever owned. The TV series, "I Love Lucy," was the second.

Ashley grew up on comedy - staying up late to watch "Kids in the Hall" or "Monty Python" reruns on Comedy Central (Shhhh don't tell her parents).

Years later, comedy is still very much a part of her life.

A recent graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts Masters Film program, Ashley blended the comedy and horror genres in her short film, "Friday Night Fright." Ashley won the prestigious Directors Guild of America award for the film in 2010. Click here to see a trailer of the film.

Her thesis film, "Volcano Girl," is an exploration of the super hero genre. It follows the super hero "rules" but pokes fun of it by stripping Volcano Girl of her superhero status straight away. Learn more about the movie here: www.volcanogirlthemovie.com.

Ashley is currently building her portfolio as a writer and director in preparation for her first feature.
