On my one year anniversary of living in Los Angeles, I remember back when I first came here. The 4 day road trip across the country after saying goodbye to my family – something that will never get easier.

My dad and I pushed ourselves – driving 12 hour days. It was not without a hang up though – my car broke down 5 hours into the trip! Read about it here. I hadn’t even left North Carolina! Was this the Gods telling me I wasn’t supposed to move? I thought this while I sat on the side of the road for the second time waiting for a tow truck. No. This was how my brand new car and I would bond. Every few months that car gives me an issue, and I had to develop a family at the local Midas. They have taken good care of me and my Ford Focus this past year. Here’s a photo of them fixing my most recent leak through my windshield:

They had to put weights on the rubber part so the glue would stick. I currently rock a strip of duct tape.

One year ago, I did all of my house shopping at Target and food shopping at Ralph’s (Kroger) because they were familiar to me. Since then I have ventured to local markets and Craigslist. The Los Angeles Fashion District is officially the only way to buy clothes for me. Maybe not underwear. That’s still Target.

One year ago, I knew no one in LA. Now, I truly believe the only reason I love LA is for my friends. My “USC Mafia!” We tackle everything together with the ultimate support. Each one is my best friend, and I am so lucky to have them in my life.

One year ago, I thought every one in LA was out to get me and my car was seconds away from being stolen. Now I know my car is seconds away from being ticketed and the crazy  people on the side of the street only want your cans or plastic bottles. They want to recycle!

One year ago, I had no idea where my passion for film would take me. Now I am on that path of discovery and more importantly discovering new interests!

I hope this next year will find me as a more stable LA resident. I’m here, and I probably will be for awhile so might as well embrace it! I want to venture out to the sites more. I want to have a favorite place. Those are my goals for 2010.

I think this will happen in 2010, and I’m so thrilled to see what else. When I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in May 2008, I wondered how I was going to spend my 1 year anniversary. 1 year later I was on a plane flying back to LA to start a job at Mark Burnett Productions! 1 year after hearing of my USC acceptance – I was at a CBS lot party hosted by Gary Sinise! Here are a few photos:

January 7th is my 1 year anniversary of moving to Los Angeles, so I want to drink and be merry with my best friends! And apply to festivals… check out the “Friday Night Fright” trailer here. I wonder how I will celebrate my 2 years??
